Connect GA4, Google Ads and the other early-access sources
Seven sources are published as early access: Google Ads, Meta Ads, LinkedIn Ads, Google Analytics 4, Snowflake, BigQuery and Custom API. Connecting one stores your credentials and checks their shape; no data is read from any of them yet, and none of them fills a report. Connect one to hold the setup for the day the sync ships, and read this article before you plan work around it.
Before you start
Nothing is read from these sources yet
Each of the seven pages carries an amber notice headed "Data sync for <tool> is in early access", reading: "Connecting stores and validates your credentials, but automated data sync for this source isn’t live yet — <tool> data won’t appear in your reports until it ships. We’ll enable your connection automatically when it does." Plan no reporting around one of these until that changes.
There is nothing to request
Early access here is a state of the connector, not a programme you join. MarqIQ has no request form, no waiting list and no per-workspace switch for these seven — the notice on the page is the whole of it, and connections are enabled for everyone when the sync ships.
Plan required
Google Analytics 4 is the one of the seven a Starter workspace can add. The other six set Pro as their minimum, and the check runs before anything you typed is read — so a plan refusal comes back however correct your credentials are. Starter, Free Trial and Pro also allow one tool per category, and the three ad sources share the Advertising category while Snowflake, BigQuery and Custom API share Data Warehouses. Business allows four tools and lifts the per-category limit.
Permissions required
Ask for read access only in the source itself. MarqIQ makes no call to any of these seven providers today, and none of them has a write path in the product.
What each source asks you to paste
These are the fields on the connect form, with the ones marked required by a red asterisk named as such.
| Source | Required | Optional |
|---|---|---|
| Google Analytics 4 | GA4 Property ID — Admin → Property Settings → Property ID; Service Account JSON — a service account with Viewer access to the property | None |
| Google Ads | Customer ID; Developer Token; OAuth Refresh Token, generated through the Google Ads OAuth consent flow | None |
| Meta Ads | Ad Account ID, in the form act_123456789; Access Token — a long-lived system user token with ads_read | None |
| LinkedIn Ads | Ad Account ID; Access Token — an OAuth token with the r_ads_reporting scope | None |
| Snowflake | Account Identifier, the account locator and its region; Username; Password / PAT | Warehouse; Database |
| Google BigQuery | GCP Project ID; Service Account JSON | Dataset |
| Custom API | Base URL, which must be https | API Key / Bearer Token, sent as an Authorization bearer header |
MarqIQ keeps only the fields the form declares. Anything else you send is discarded before the connection is saved.
Connect one
Open Integrations in the sidebar.
Click Add more.
None of the seven is on the Integrations page until you connect it, so you reach it through the marketplace.
Type the source’s name into Search integrations…
Each also sits under its category heading — Advertising, Analytics or Data Warehouses.
Click Connect on its card.
Where your plan or your tool allowance will not take it, the button reads Upgrade to connect instead, and the reason is printed under the card in full.
Read the amber notice at the top of the page before you fill anything in.
The header carries an Early access pill beside the source’s name, and the notice below it says data sync is not live.
Fill in each field from the table above.
Password and token fields mask what you type. The Service Account JSON field is a text box you paste the whole key file into.
Click Connect.
The button reads Connecting… while MarqIQ checks your plan, then the required fields, then the two format checks described below. It encrypts what you entered and saves the connection.
Check the Connection active card that replaces the form.
It lists what you entered so you can check it: plain-text fields in full, and every password, token or key as four dots and its last four characters.
Note
MarqIQ names the connection after the source and the field that identifies your account — Google Analytics 4 — 123456789, Snowflake — xy12345.us-east-1, Custom API — https://api.example.com/v1 — so two accounts of the same source are told apart in the list.
What MarqIQ checks, and what it does not
This is the part worth reading twice, because a green Connected badge on one of these seven means your details were accepted, not that the provider answered.
- Your plan, your tool allowance and the per-category rule. This runs first, before anything you typed is read.
- That every required field holds something. A value of only spaces counts as empty, and MarqIQ names every field it is missing in one message.
- For Google Analytics 4 and BigQuery, that Service Account JSON parses as JSON. Whether the key works is not tested.
- For Custom API, that Base URL is https and does not resolve to a private, loopback, link-local or reserved address — the same guard every tenant-supplied URL goes through.
- Nothing else. No request is made to Google, Meta, LinkedIn, Snowflake, BigQuery or your own API. A wrong token, a wrong account id or a warehouse that does not exist is accepted and stays wrong until the sync ships.
Tip
Because MarqIQ cannot prove the credential works, test it where it was made before you rely on it. Call the provider’s own API with the same token from a terminal, or open the account the id belongs to and check it character by character. A credential you have exercised yourself is the only kind you can trust on these seven today.
What you get once it is connected
- No rows, no sessions, no spend. None of the seven has a sync engine, so nothing is pulled on a schedule or on demand.
- No Sync button. On Data sources a connected early-access source reads Mapping only · no record sync yet.
- Nothing dated. MarqIQ leaves the last-sync stamp empty rather than stamping the moment you connected, so the card cannot read "Connected · today" as though records had arrived.
- A declared field list, for four of the seven. It tells you what the source will contribute when the sync ships.
| Source | What *Available in Reporting* shows |
|---|---|
| Google Analytics 4 | Dimensions Source, Medium, Campaign, Channel Group, Landing Page, Country. Metrics Sessions, Users, Conversions, Engagement Rate, Events. |
| Google Ads | Dimensions Campaign, Ad Group, Keyword, Network, Device. Metrics Impressions, Clicks, Cost, Conversions, CTR, Avg CPC. |
| Meta Ads | Dimensions Campaign, Ad Set, Ad, Placement. Metrics Impressions, Clicks, Spend, Reach, Conversions, CPC. |
| LinkedIn Ads | Dimensions Campaign, Campaign Group, Creative. Metrics Impressions, Clicks, Cost, Conversions, Leads. |
| Snowflake, BigQuery, Custom API | An empty panel, with the line "This source exposes fields from your queries/tables once a model is defined." None of the three declares a fixed field list. |
These lists are declarations of intent. Nothing behind them is populated yet.
What connecting one of these does not unlock
The analyses read the record store, and only a tool with a sync engine fills it. None of the seven gains you any of the following.
- Source truth, Field discipline, Forecast accuracy, Audience health, Lead scoring, Funnel, Form fills, Email and Automations.
- The Analysis, Data audit and Report templates links on a source card, which appear only once that source has records.
- Field mapping. MarqIQ maps its tracking fields onto CRM and marketing-automation tools only, so none of the seven has Field Mapping under Tool Operations.
- Change sets, which are proposed from an analysis and applied through a writer for that tool.
Take care
Weigh the slot before you spend it. On Pro, connecting Google Ads and GA4 uses both tools you are allowed and leaves no room for a CRM — and a CRM is the only kind of tool that fills an analysis today.
Disconnect one
Open the source’s page from Integrations.
Click Disconnect in the Connection active card.
Confirm the prompt.
The stored credentials are erased at once, the connection is marked disconnected, the slot is freed and a line is written to your activity log.
The card disappears from Data sources rather than reading Disconnected, data kept, because there are no records to keep.
Note
There is no edit-in-place form for one of these connections. To correct a typo, disconnect and enter every value again.
If it did not work
"Missing required field: GA4 Property ID" — or several fields named at once
Why: A required field is blank or holds only spaces. MarqIQ names every one it is missing in a single message.
Fix: Fill the named fields and click Connect again. Optional fields are never named here.
"Service Account JSON is not valid JSON"
Why: What you pasted into the key box does not parse. Usually part of the file was copied, or a text editor replaced the quotes.
Fix: Open the key file, copy it whole including the opening and closing braces, and paste it again. MarqIQ checks only that it parses — a valid file for the wrong project is accepted.
A Custom API base URL is refused
Why: The URL is not https, carries a username or password, or resolves to a private, loopback, link-local or reserved address. The guard exists so a pasted URL cannot point MarqIQ’s servers at something internal.
Fix: Give a public https address. An API reachable only inside your own network cannot be connected.
"Google Ads is part of the Pro plan — this workspace is on Starter."
Why: Six of the seven set Pro as their minimum, and the plan check runs before your credentials are read.
Fix: Move to Pro or above. On Starter, Google Analytics 4 is the one of the seven you can add.
"Pro includes 2 tools besides Google Tag Manager, and this workspace has connected 2…"
Why: Your tool allowance is used up. The message names the tools currently holding your slots.
Fix: Disconnect one of the named tools, or move to Business, which allows four. Google Tag Manager, AI engine keys and enrichment provider keys never count against this.
"Pro allows 1 tool from this category, and Google Ads is already connected."
Why: The three ad sources share one category, and the three warehouse sources share another. The second of a category is refused even with a slot free.
Fix: Disconnect the one you are not using, or move to Business, where the per-category limit is lifted.
"This workspace is read-only. Renew the subscription to connect tools."
Why: The subscription has lapsed. A read-only workspace can be looked at and cannot connect anything.
Fix: Renew from Billing and connect again. Nothing already connected was removed.
The source says Connected and every report built on it is empty
Why: Sync for these seven is early access and not live. Connecting stores credentials, starts no import, and there is no Sync button to press.
Fix: Nothing to fix. Build reports on a connected CRM meanwhile. MarqIQ enables your connection on its own when the sync ships.
The button stays on Connecting… and never comes back
Why: MarqIQ answered with something the form could not read, so it never returned to its normal state. Nothing was saved.
Fix: Reload the page. The form comes back empty, so enter every value again.
"Unauthorized"
Why: Your MarqIQ session has expired, so the request arrived without one. Nothing you typed was read and nothing was saved.
Fix: Reload, sign in again, and enter the credentials once more.
