Why a number on my dashboard shows zero

Last updated 25 September 2026Setup & diagnostics works on every plan and needs nothing connected. The Data Audit and Executive Read tabs this article sends you to sit under Intelligence Studio, which needs Pro or above and one synced tool.

A zero means one of two things: there is genuinely nothing to count, or something upstream was never set up and the tile has nothing to read. They look identical on screen. Start on Setup & diagnostics, which tells the two apart, then use the table below to get to the article that owns your particular zero.

Before you start

Open Setup & diagnostics from Account & Team and leave it open. It tells the causes below apart for you.

Note

Every check on that page carries one of six verdicts: Ready, Not set up, Nothing yet, Failing, Blocked or Unknown. Nothing yet means set up, working, and holding nothing. Unknown means the check could not be run, and MarqIQ shows that rather than Ready.

Confirm which kind of zero you have

  1. Open Setup & diagnostics.

  2. Find the capability the tile belongs to.

The eight are CRM records, Outcomes to measure, Form capture, First-touch attribution, AI providers, AI answer visibility, Spreadsheet imports and Business context. Each one names what it delivers, so you can tell which feeds your tile.

  3. Read the verdict and the sentence under it.

The sentence states what is true, with the figure it rests on — "HubSpot is connected but no sync has run yet", not "no data".

  4. Click the action on the right of the row.

Every check that is not Ready carries the next concrete step.

  5. Read the grey line of raw evidence underneath.

It is the count, timestamp or status the verdict came from. Quote it if you open a support case.

Each of these is a different fault with a different fix. Pick by what you can see, not by the size of the number.

The zeros this article owns

A form-submission count reads zero and your forms are definitely working

Why: Three different things stop submissions arriving, and a bare zero cannot tell you which. The script may not be on the site. It may be on pages that have no form. Or your workspace is set to wait for cookie consent and your banner never tells the script that consent was given.

Fix: Open Setup & diagnostics and read the Form capture check. It separates the consent case from the install case and lists every way a banner can report consent: Google Consent Mode granting analytics_storage, window.marqiqConsentGranted(), window.MarqIQConsent = true, or an mp_consent=granted cookie. Start where it sends you rather than re-pasting a tag that is already working.

Submissions used to arrive and stopped, and nothing on the screen says why

Why: The tracking script stops recording when a workspace is read-only, when a trial or a paid term has ended, and when an administrator has suspended or held it. Capture is refused at the edge, so the count stops climbing.

Fix: Open Plan & billing. The banner there names the actual reason and offers the action that can lift it — and only that action. An administrator hold and a suspension are not billing states, and a new payment will not clear either, so those offer Contact support rather than a checkout link.

A field reads 0% filled across your whole database

Why: The field is not being written by your tool at all, which is different from the field being empty on your records. A sync that never requested the property looks exactly like a property nobody fills in.

Fix: Read the Data caveats on the Data Audit tab. The two are worded differently: "No lead-source field is populated on the synced HubSpot contacts" means no such field is populated at all, while "62% of contacts carry no lead source (“hs_analytics_source”)" names the field that exists and is empty.

Two zeros that are correct

  • A sync that completed and returned nothing. The connection is working and the portal it points at holds nothing MarqIQ can see. Setup & diagnostics reports this as Nothing yet rather than as a fault.
  • Nobody is a customer yet: no person is at the customer stage and none is on a won deal. Nothing can be ranked by what converts, because every rate would divide by zero. This is what puts the Suggested Plan into readiness mode, and the plan says so rather than showing empty rankings.

One tile that always reads zero

Take care

The CRM Only tile on the CRM & Sources tab of Attribution & Journeys is always 0. That report starts from people who submitted a form on your site, so a contact that exists only in your CRM is never counted in it. For the number you want, read the contact count on the tool's own Data Audit page.

If it did not work

Every HubSpot pipeline figure is empty while contacts are fine

Why: The private app token has crm.schemas.deals.read but not crm.objects.deals.read. The schema scope sounds as though it covers deals and only adds your custom deal properties.

Fix: Open your private app at app.hubspot.com/l/private-apps, add crm.objects.deals.read, then reconnect on the HubSpot page in MarqIQ and sync. Where a scope is missing, the analysis screens quote HubSpot's own refusal back to you rather than showing a silent zero.

A check reads Unknown

Why: The query behind the check did not return an answer, so MarqIQ shows Unknown rather than guessing at Ready.

Fix: Reload the page. If it stays Unknown, open a support case and quote the grey evidence line under the check.

A report is empty but the same figures appear elsewhere

Why: Focus filters narrow what reports are built from. Reports honour them and the Data Audit does not.

Fix: Press Focus filters on the Intelligence Studio screen and clear them, or widen them. The data is already synced either way.

None of this explains your zero

Why: Something is happening that this list does not cover.

Fix: Open a support case and give five things: the screen, the tool, the date range, the last-synced date in the page header, and the grey evidence line from the matching check on Setup & diagnostics.
