An analysis shows zero, is greyed out, or says it is not set up

Starter does not include Insights, which is one of the four causes below.

An empty analysis is one of four things, and the screen tells you which. An analysis your tool cannot feed stays visible and says why. One you have not built yet shows you the build instead of a blank. This article names the four states and the prerequisites people most often miss.

Before you start

Read the badge on the analysis’s card on the Overview tab before anything else. Nothing to do and Not enough to go on yet are different answers, and only one of them is a problem.

The four states, and what each looks like

What you seeWhat it means
The tab is muted with a dashed border, and opening it reads “Not something this tool can do.”Your tool genuinely cannot feed this analysis. The sentence underneath names the limit. The tab still opens.
An orange Not set up yet card with numbered steps under “How to set it up in” your tool.Your tool supports this and your workspace has not built it. The steps are for your tool, your deal size and your sales cycle.
The card says Nothing to do, or Not enough to go on yet.It ran. Either it found nothing, or there is too little to judge. Each analysis says what it is waiting for.
There is no Insights row in the left-hand menu at all.Your plan does not include it. Rows a plan does not carry are not shown.

Note

Only three analyses ever reach Not set up yet: Lead scoring, Funnel and Forecast accuracy. Form fills never does, on purpose — MarqIQ cannot tell a customer with no forms from a customer whose forms it cannot read, so it answers ready or unsupported.

Work down the causes

The first one that matches is almost certainly yours.

The tab is greyed out and says “Not something this tool can do”

Why: The analysis needs something this tool does not give MarqIQ. Field discipline needs a record’s change history, which only HubSpot, Marketo, Salesforce, Pipedrive, Zoho CRM and Microsoft Dynamics expose. Email needs per-send results, which HubSpot, Marketo, Mailchimp and Salesforce Marketing Cloud report. Automations needs the tool’s own workflows, smart campaigns, automations, journeys or flows, which HubSpot, Marketo, Mailchimp, Salesforce Marketing Cloud and Salesforce give. Forecast accuracy needs a deal’s stage, forecast category and close-date history, which HubSpot, Salesforce and Pipedrive give.

Fix: Read the sentence on the card: it names the limit in one line. If a second connected tool does have it — a CRM beside a marketing tool, for instance — run the analysis there instead. Connect it on Connected Tools, under Capture & Instrument in the left-hand menu. Connect HubSpot and Connect Salesforce below carry the credential steps for the two most common ones.

Which of these have run on a live account

Three of these reads have been run against customer accounts: Field discipline and Automations on HubSpot and Marketo, and Forecast accuracy on HubSpot. On the other tools named above they follow each vendor’s documented API and have not yet run on a customer account. Tell us if one behaves differently on yours.

You get an orange card headed Not set up yet

Why: Your tool supports the thing and no record carries it. Lead scoring needs a field on people that scores them, with at least one value. Funnel needs a stage ladder on people, or stage-entry dates. Forecast accuracy needs deals plus a stage probability or a filled forecast field.

Fix: Follow the numbered steps under “How to set it up in” your tool. Then check the line beginning “You will know it worked when”, which describes what a record should carry rather than a menu path, because vendors rename menus. Once records carry it the analysis fills in by itself — there is nothing to switch on in MarqIQ.

Forecast accuracy says there is nothing to forecast

Why: No deals are synced from this tool yet. That is not a setup failing.

Fix: Open Intelligence Studio then Data sources, press Sync next to the tool, and check the deal count in the page header. If the tool holds deals and none arrive, read Record counts do not match my CRM.

Form fills is empty, or shows only the tool’s own forms

Why: Half of that analysis reads fills MarqIQ’s tracking script captured on your website. Until the script is live there is nothing for it to read. The other half reads your tool’s own form records, and MarqIQ reads those from HubSpot and Marketo only.

Fix: Install the tracking script, then add the hidden fields to your forms. Until then the analysis says what it captured — a count of zero — rather than pretending you have no forms.

Lead scoring runs, but there is no check on clicks made by security software

Why: That check compares contacts whose only email clicks were made by a scanner against contacts who never clicked. The groups come from the Email analysis, so they exist only once the Email analysis has been read for this tool.

Fix: Open Email on the same tool and let it finish, then go back to Lead scoring. The check also needs at least one contact whose only clicks were a scanner’s, and 30 contacts in a group before it will judge one.

Every card reads Not enough to go on yet

Why: Nothing is synced from this tool, or the Created range you set holds almost no records. A record with no created date falls outside every range.

Fix: Click Clear on the Created filter first. If the cards stay empty, open Intelligence Studio then Data sources and press Sync. The headline then tells you plainly: “No records are synced from HubSpot yet. Press Sync next to it on the Data sources page, and every analysis that applies to HubSpot appears here.”

A card reads Could not be read

Why: The read from your tool failed this time — an expired token, a rate limit, or a request that did not return. MarqIQ says so instead of showing a zero.

Fix: Open the analysis to try again, or click Read the latest from your tool. If it keeps failing, open Connected Tools under Capture & Instrument and reconnect. Fix a connection that stopped walks through fetching a fresh key for each tool.

There is no Insights row in your left-hand menu

Why: Insights is not part of Starter, and rows your plan does not carry are not rendered at all.

Fix: Open Plan & billing under Account & Team and move to Pro or above. The free trial includes it.

Tell a zero from a gap in one place

Open Setup & diagnostics under Account & Team. It lists what this workspace can do right now and what is standing in the way, one card per area, and it states the figure that decides each verdict.

  • A figure that could not be read says so, rather than showing a zero.
  • A blocked area names what is missing and what would clear it.
  • A block your plan causes is said as a plan matter, not sent to the integration page where nothing can be done about it.
  • Reload the page to run every check again. The foot of the page carries the time it was last checked.

If it did not work

You followed the setup steps and the card still says Not set up yet

Why: The analysis reads records, not settings. A score field that exists on no record, or a stage ladder no person has reached, still counts as nothing held.

Fix: Open one record in your tool and confirm it carries a value. Then run a sync on Data sources so MarqIQ holds the new values, and reload the analysis.

MarqIQ says it has not verified how something works in your tool

Why: The tool has no entry for that capability, so MarqIQ does not know whether the tool even offers it. It will not guess at a setup, and the sentence says plainly that nothing there is a judgement about your data.

Fix: If your workspace does hold the data, the analysis runs anyway. If it does not, use a connected tool MarqIQ has verified — HubSpot, Marketo, Salesforce, Pipedrive, Zoho CRM or Microsoft Dynamics.
