A page is missing from my menu, or asks me to upgrade
Three separate filters decide whether a row appears in your sidebar: your role, your plan, and which tools this workspace has connected. They are checked independently and any one of them can hide a page, which is why two people on the same plan see different menus. Work through them in the order below; if the page is there and the number on it is zero, read Why a number on my dashboard shows zero instead.
Before you start
Open Account & Team and keep two tabs to hand: Plan & billing, which lists every feature and whether this workspace has it, and Team & roles, which shows your role.
Note
A workspace whose trial or subscription has ended keeps the whole sidebar on purpose, so you can still read what you built. A missing row on such a workspace is therefore your role or your connected tools, never the plan.
The three filters, and what each one hides
| Filter | The question it asks | What you see when it says no |
|---|---|---|
| Role | Are you allowed to see this kind of work? | The row is absent from the sidebar |
| Plan | Does your plan include the feature this page needs? | The row is absent, except for the six apps that sell themselves — see below |
| Connected tools | Would this page have anything to act on? | The row is absent, because there is nothing it could do |
All three have to say yes. A row missing for two reasons still looks like one missing row.
Check your role first
MarqIQ splits access across nineteen modules rather than one big switch, and the split is deliberately between reading your data and writing into your production systems. On Tool Operations, Intelligence Cloud and Template Studio, the top level of access means “may write into your CRM” — a backfill across thousands of live records is not something an admin should grant without noticing.
Open Team & roles.
Find your own name and read the role beside it.
Open the role to see the modules it holds.
Each module is listed with what it governs in the words an admin would use, so you can tell which one owns the page you want.
Ask a Workspace Admin to move you, or to grant that module on your existing role.
Only a Workspace Admin can change roles.
- Campaign Manager has the UTM Builder, report building, Template Studio drafting and AI visibility, and deliberately cannot connect tools or run anything that writes into the CRM.
- Analyst has full freedom inside MarqIQ’s own reporting and read-only on everything touching a connected system.
- Agency Collaborator can connect and configure but cannot disconnect a client’s tool, cannot pay for the plan, and cannot change the member list.
- Developer has the tracking script and domains, and sees the connections screen only so they can check Google Tag Manager.
- Executive Viewer reads the outputs and touches nothing.
- Read the name on the role, not the job title you would use. The role that suits a demand-generation manager is called Campaign Manager, and the one for a marketing-ops lead is called Marketing Ops.
A row that holds several pages
Intelligence Studio and Agents are rows whose hover menu holds pages of their own — Dashboards, Attribution & journeys and the Influence report; Agents and the Inbox. Such a row stays in your menu when your role may open one of those pages even though it may not open the row’s own page, and the row then opens on that page. Content & SEO sees Intelligence Studio for Attribution & journeys and the Influence report, with no Open Intelligence Studio line in the hover menu, because Prebuilt Reports is on that role and Report Builder & Dashboards is not.
What a direct link does and does not get round
The role filter decides what the sidebar offers you; it is not a lock on the address, so a page your role does not list may still open if you type its address. Two things are refused whatever address you use. Anything reserved for a Workspace Admin — inviting people, changing roles, the workspace API key, erasing data — is refused by MarqIQ itself. And a page whose plan feature you do not have opens but answers with an upgrade message naming the plan that includes it. Ask for the role rather than routing round the menu: a page you reach without the role behind it will refuse you halfway through the work.
Then check your plan
A page whose interface would refuse every request is hidden rather than left to fail on arrival. Plan & billing is where to confirm it: the Feature Access card lists every feature in MarqIQ with a mark for whether this workspace has it.
| Feature | From which plan |
|---|---|
| Prebuilt reports, tracking script, UTM builder, tracking URLs, integration audit report | Starter |
| Field mapping and hidden form fields, one-click GTM deploy, Tool Operations, attribution and journey reports, building your own reports, Template Studio, Intelligence Cloud | Pro |
| AI Answer Visibility | Business |
| AI enrichment and CRM sync-back, template import and push into your tool, AEO recommendations and citations | Enterprise |
A Free Trial carries the Pro feature set. Business and Enterprise differ on one line: writing back into your stack.
- Six apps stay visible even when your plan does not include them, because their own page carries the offer: Template Studio, Template Studio Advanced, Intelligence Cloud, Intelligence Advanced, AEO and AEO Advanced.
- Each of those offers Try it free for 7 days. The trial unlocks the feature straight away and relocks itself when the seven days are up.
- It is one trial per feature per workspace, ever. A workspace that has used it is told so, and is told which plan the feature belongs to.
- A plan change takes effect on your next page load. Nothing about your plan is cached between requests.
Then check your connected tools
Some pages only make sense with a particular kind of tool connected, and a workspace with none of them is not offered the row. Hidden form fields, Add fields to forms, Source tracking setup and First-touch backfill all write onto live forms, which MarqIQ does on HubSpot and Marketo Engage; Template Studio needs HubSpot, Marketo Engage, Pardot (MCAE) or Salesforce Marketing Cloud; the Integration Audit Report needs a tool it can audit.
Connect the tool and the row appears. The rule is declared once and read by the sidebar, the hover menus and the dashboard shortcuts together, so they cannot disagree about it.
When the message does not name the real cause
Five messages can block you. Four of them put a workspace into read-only, and only two of those four are about money; the fifth is about your account rather than a workspace. MarqIQ says which one you have and offers an action only where that action can actually lift it.
| What you see | What it means | What lifts it |
|---|---|---|
| “Your free trial has ended.” | The trial window closed and no plan was bought | Choosing a plan |
| “Your subscription has ended.” | A paid term lapsed, was cancelled, or reached its end date | Renewing |
| “This workspace has been placed in read-only mode.” | An administrator set a hold. Not a billing state | Support. Paying does not clear it |
| “This workspace is suspended.” | An administrator suspended it. A new payment is refused while it stands | Support only |
| “This account is not attached to a workspace.” | Sign-up did not finish, or you were removed from your workspace | Support |
Read this before you assume your data is still being collected
In the first four states in the table — trial ended, subscription ended, read-only and suspended — your tracking script stops recording new form submissions as well as blocking changes. Everything you already have stays and stays visible. Nothing new is captured while the block is in place, and that gap does not fill in afterwards. The fifth state is different: an account with no workspace has no tracking script, so there was never anything being recorded to stop.
If it did not work
You upgraded and the page is still missing
Why: Either the subscription status has not actually changed, or the row is hidden by your role or your connected tools instead.
Fix: Open Plan & billing and read the plan name at the top. Where it is the new plan, the cause is one of the other two filters — go back to the role section above.
A page opens but every action on it is refused
Why: You reached a page your role does not list, or the workspace is in one of the blocked states.
Fix: Read the refusal: it names either the plan that includes the feature, or the reason the workspace is held. Neither is a fault in the page.
The Try it free for 7 days button says the trial is already running
Why: Somebody in this workspace started it, and it has not expired.
Fix: The message gives the date it ends. The feature is already unlocked until then.
A Starter workspace cannot reach the Analysis screen at all
Why: Analysis sits inside the report-building feature set, which starts at Pro.
Fix: The Integration Audit Report is on Starter and covers the connected-tool health check. For the ten analyses, move to Pro.
You are an admin and still cannot see the Admin Panel or Support Cases
Why: Those two modules are reserved for MarqIQ staff and are not part of any customer role.
Fix: Raise a support case for anything you need from them.
