What should you fix first?
The Suggested Plan page takes everything the nine analyses found and hands you three things to fix, up to three places to invest, and the short list you can ship this month. This article shows you how to open it and what to do with each section. If you want the cross-analysis summary rather than the plan, read Read your first analysis first.
Before you start
The plan runs the analyses itself, so you do not have to open them first. It waits up to 40 seconds for them; an analysis that is slower than that, or cannot be read, contributes nothing and Show the working says so.
Tip
Fill in your business profile before you read the plan. Click Tell us at the top of the Suggested Plan page — it reads Update once anything is filled in. What you sell, who buys it and how you sell cannot be read from a CRM, and the later months of the roadmap are written from it.
Open the plan
Open Insights in the left-hand menu, then Suggested Plan.
The other views are Executive Read, Data Audit, Analysis and Field Intelligence; each is a row in the same menu and a link along the top of the page.
Pick the tool you care about along the top.
Set the Created filter to the period you plan against.
The plan covers the same population as the Data Audit and the analyses, so all three agree on how many people and deals you have.
Read the headline at the top of the plan card.
Read the short brief under it.
The brief is written from the plan and cannot state a number the plan does not contain. The line beneath says whether it was written by AI from this plan or taken straight from it.
What to do on Monday
Three sections carry the work. Take them in this order and you have the week.
Start with What to fix: up to three items, already in order.
Take the first one. Each item carries an owner role — RevOps, Marketing Ops, Demand Gen, Sales leadership — a horizon, and a line beginning Done when. That target is a condition the same analysis can confirm on its next run, never an invented percentage lift.
Hand This week to whoever has capacity now.
These are the low-effort items on a 30-day horizon. Ship them while the quarter plan is being agreed.
Read Where to invest in the same sitting, not after the fixes are done.
Up to three growth bets drawn from your own conversions, ranked on their own number rather than mixed in with the fixes. Each card carries its evidence and its stop rule. A motion that ranks no channel — a win-back to a named audience, a second route in — needs no conversion statistics, so it stands even when your outcomes are too few to rank anything.
Take What sales should know and What RevOps should settle into your next two meetings.
The first is what to tell sales. The second is what RevOps has to decide before the fixes can land.
Click Rebuild once you have fixed something.
It sits at the top right of the plan card, with the time the plan was generated underneath.
Turn an item into work
Open the item to see the full evidence.
Each card folds open on the headline, the owner, the one number and the definition of done.
Click See the changes it can make in your tool, from the foot of the tool’s card on the Analysis screen.
That opens the operations page for that tool, where a change set is shown to you record by record before it writes.
Read How a change set works: propose, approve, apply, undo before you apply anything.
The rest of the screen
| Section | What it holds |
|---|---|
| Five tiles | Your outcome rate, lead source fill, tracked submissions without a first touch, AI visibility, and how many records were analysed. |
| Scorecard | One grade per area — Data foundation, Lead scoring, Lifecycle & handoff, Campaign mix, Content & enablement. A dash is “not measured”, never a pass. |
| The roadmap | Six months as a strip. Open a month for its card. |
| Show the working | The link reads Show the working — what this drew on, what else fired, definitions and limits. It holds the held-back items and the plan’s own limits. |
Why that item is first
You do not have to read this to use the plan. It is here for the meeting where somebody asks why their problem is third.
Three things decide the order, in this sequence. Nothing is re-judged here: a finding’s severity comes from the analysis that raised it.
| In this order | What it means |
|---|---|
| Severity | A fault that is still happening is critical. A fault that has stopped is high. A risk is medium. A broken denominator outranks an interesting segment, because there is no point acting on a ranking computed over bad data. |
| Reach | How much of the analysed population it touches. A real problem affecting a third of the database beats one affecting three per cent. |
| Effort | The cheaper action wins a tie, so the list starts with the thing that gets done inside a quarter. |
Money is not in the ranking
Findings are ordered on severity, reach and effort. Money appears inside a finding’s evidence where the analysis measured it — revenue on won deals, for instance — but it does not move an item up the list.
Take care
Four analyses pass every finding through whole: Source truth, Field discipline, Forecast accuracy and Audience health. The other five contribute only their single top action, and that action is capped at high even when it is doing harm now. An action the Overview ranked Worth a look is dropped from the plan entirely.
Age on its own never raises an item. An automation nobody has edited in eighteen months is listed as worth a re-check, and the analysis says in as many words that age is not a fault. The same holds for an old record. What earns an alarm is evidence of damage — a first-touch field overwritten after it was set, a stage moving backwards, a close date pushed a third time.
Why the fixes name things you already have
Before any advice tells you to build something, MarqIQ looks at what your workspace already holds, measured on the records the finding is about.
- Fields, picklist options, workflows and forms are recognised by role and by what they hold, never by a fixed name.
- The measurement is on the affected records, not the whole workspace — “filled on 180 of these 237 people”, with the values.
- There is a minimum. A field that answers for one record in 237 is not the answer, and a catch-all value in a rescue field is not coverage.
- The thing that did it is named where your tool names it: the form, the workflow, the smart campaign, the integration user.
- Creating something is advised only when nothing you hold answers it, and the fix lists what was looked at.
When the plan cannot rank anything
With too few decided outcomes to rank on performance, the plan switches to a readiness plan and says so on the badge. It keeps only the items that rank nothing, and the heading changes to Make the next quarter measurable. Work those items first: they are what makes the next plan rankable.
If it did not work
The plan shows fewer items than the analyses found
Why: The plan holds three fixes, two maintenance items and three bets by design. Anything real that did not make the cut is listed as held back, with the reason.
Fix: Click Show the working and read the held-back list. A row gives one of four reasons: “Real, but ranked below the items above”, “Real, but held back so the first items get done”, “A real opportunity, held back so the three bets above get funded first”, or “Folded into” a finding an analysis made with fuller evidence. Each row also says when it will appear.
A finding you can see in an analysis is missing from the plan
Why: Either the Overview ranked it Worth a look, which never reaches a plan, or an analysis found the same thing with fuller evidence and the plan’s own weaker check was folded into it.
Fix: Click Show the working. A folded check reads “Folded into” the analysis finding that replaced it, and says which analysis found it.
An area on the Scorecard shows a dash instead of a grade
Why: That area was not measured, and a blank is never treated as a pass.
Fix: Read the line under the dash: it names what is missing and what would make it measurable, usually a connection or the tracking script.
The badge reads Readiness plan and nothing ranks a channel
Why: Too few decided outcomes are synced to rank anything, or your source field is filled on too few records for a channel ranking to describe more than the recorded minority.
Fix: Read the reason on screen — it quotes the figure that failed the test. Fix source coverage first, then click Rebuild.
The brief did not appear, or reads as a plain summary
Why: The brief is a second request that never blocks a number. When it cannot be written by AI, the plan’s own summary is shown instead.
Fix: Nothing. The line under the brief says which you are reading. Every figure in it is checked against the plan either way.
The roadmap’s later months are generic
Why: Your business profile is empty, so the roadmap has nothing to name your buyers or your offer with.
Fix: Click Tell us at the top of the Suggested Plan page, or Update if you have filled in part of it already. Fill in what you sell and who buys it, then click Rebuild.
