Get the Monday Brief by email
The Monday Brief is an agent: a report MarqIQ builds every Monday from one connected tool and sends to the people you name, by email and in Agents › Inbox. It says what was created, won and lost last week, what moved, where the quarter stands against the target, the risks, and three things to do this week, each with its evidence. This article sets one up and says what each section rests on. To be told when a figure moves rather than every Monday, read Get an alert when a number moves instead.
Before you start
Agents read the records MarqIQ has synced. A tool connected an hour ago has one sync behind it, so the first brief carries created, won and lost, pacing and the three things, and says which sections start once the change log has a week in it.
Tip
Set a target first, under Insights › Suggested Plan, so the pacing section says how the quarter is going rather than that no target is saved.
Permissions required
A workspace admin decides who receives an agent. Only the person decides whether it emails them, under Account settings › Notifications.
Set it up
Open Agents in the left-hand menu.
The page lists every agent of the workspace with its next run on the workspace clock, its last runs, and who receives it. The Inbox sits in the same hover menu.
Click New agent.
The button is there only for a role with Edit on Workspace Settings. Everyone else reads the list.
Type a name, and pick Monday Brief under Kind.
The sentence under the kind says what it does.
Pick the hour.
The day is fixed: the brief reports the week that ended on Sunday, so it runs on Mondays, at the hour you choose on the workspace clock. The default is 07:00.
Tick the people who receive it, and choose how each receives it.
A reader gets the shared sections; a manager also gets the managers’ ones. Each person has an email and an in-app box; both are on unless you untick one. With Slack connected there is a Slack DM box too, and a channel picker under the list (see Send agent reports to Slack).
- Only members of this workspace can be recipients.
- A person whose role may not view Prebuilt Reports is skipped at delivery and the run says so.
Click Set it up.
The agent appears in the list with its next run. Its first run is at that time, or sooner with Run now.
Send one now
Nothing has to wait for Monday. Each agent carries three buttons.
| Button | What it does |
|---|---|
| Preview | Runs the brief now and shows it on the page — as the in-app report, as the email, and as plain text. Nothing is sent. |
| Run now, send to me | Runs it now and delivers it to you alone, by the channels you have on. |
| Run now, send to everyone | Runs it now and delivers it to every recipient. |
Note
An agent can be run by hand once every five minutes. The buttons need Edit on Workspace Settings, the same as setting one up.
What the brief holds
One section per connected tool, never a total across tools, and never a currency added to another.
| Section | What it rests on |
|---|---|
| Created, won and lost | The deals created, won and lost in the week, against the week before, read the way Ask reads them. |
| New MQLs | On HubSpot, the day a person reached the MQL stage. On other tools, the change log once MarqIQ keeps it; until then the brief names the set-up that would give it. |
| What moved | The change log: stage, owner, amount and close-date changes seen by a sync in the week, against the week before. A rename in the tool is never a move. |
| Where we stand | The daily figures MarqIQ keeps, on three days: today, a week ago and four weeks ago. A day with no figure is said as that, never as zero. |
| Pacing | The target saved on the Executive Read, or a line saying none is saved. |
| Risks | The week’s alerts, the MQL trend, and the health of each tool’s sync. |
| Three things to do | The Suggested Plan’s low-effort items for the next 30 days, ranked on the one rule Home’s Needs attention uses, with a growth motion filling in when fewer than three fixes qualify. Fewer than three is said, never padded. |
| What this rests on | Every cap crossed and every section left out, in words. |
Take care
Nothing in a brief is a person’s value. A deal is named, a rep is named as your tool names them, and no email address or phone number appears in one.
Where it arrives
- By email, from a no-reply address, with the subject Monday brief — your workspace, week of …. Replies go to support. Every one carries a one-click unsubscribe link.
- In Agents › Inbox, with the unread count in the notification bell at the foot of the menu.
- In your quiet hours, if you set them, an email waits until they end — at most twelve hours. In-app reports are never held.
If it did not work
Monday came and nothing arrived
Why: Three things can hold a scheduled run: the agent is off or paused, no recipient has signed in for 30 days (a weekly agent is skipped until someone does), or scheduled runs are not switched on for this server yet. The agent’s page says which: Next run, and the Last runs table with the reason a run was set aside.
Fix: Open the agent and read Last runs. If it shows no run at all at the scheduled time, click Run now, send to everyone, and tell support that the schedule did not fire.
The run is listed but the email was skipped and names a setting
Why: Agent emails need the sending address and the unsubscribe secret to be set on the server. Until both are, no agent email is sent; the in-app report still arrives.
Fix: Read the report in Agents › Inbox, and tell support the run id — the setting is theirs to set.
You received it in the inbox but not by email
Why: Your email switch for this agent is off, every agent email is off for you, or your address was suppressed after a bounce or a spam report.
Fix: Open Account settings › Notifications and turn the switch back on. A suppressed address is said there as well; read Read agent reports in your inbox, and stop the emails.
A section says the change log does not cover the week yet
Why: MarqIQ keeps stage, owner, amount and close-date changes from the day it began keeping the change log for that tool, not before. What moved and the week-on-week comparisons start once a full week has been kept.
Fix: Nothing to do. The section names the Monday it starts.
The brief has no deal section for a tool
Why: That tool holds people and not deals — Marketo, Mailchimp, Marketing Cloud, Adobe Campaign and Adobe Journey Optimizer sync no deals.
Fix: Connect the CRM that holds the deals. The brief names it when one is connected, or says that none is.
A person is listed but the run says they were skipped
Why: Their role no longer allows Prebuilt Reports, or they have left the workspace. Delivery re-reads the role on every run.
Fix: Change the role under Team & roles, or remove them from the agent under Change.
